NO BUT LIKE TODAY I LEARNED from my animation studio that anime isn’t just “cartoons from Japan” it is an actual animating style in most serial Japanese cartoons which uses triples (three frame repeat)
Which is why anime, while having more detail, will often have less animation in general because it is cheaper to produce. Most anime pass their dialogue and introspective scenes with anime “cheats” like panning and simple shaky cam, and even some anime’s action scenes don’t do much except use random white streaks and slow moving still shots for dramatic effect.
But this is why GHIBLI IS NOT ANIME especially not for an animation purist like Miyazaki. Because Miyazaki animates the traditional way.
Anime is the term used for budgeted serial cartoons which limit actual animation as compared to the doubles (two frame repeat) used in Western cartoons. Not all Japanese cartoons are anime but anime is used most because it is cheap where traditional Western animations are expensive. Not to say Western cartoons are better; many flash animations in Western cartoons have arisen as cheaper alternatives, and Korean and Filipino production companies use a mix of anime and traditional western style so they can save up on money.
So anyway done rambling, main point is that Ghibli is not anime and Miyazaki is genuinely sickened by anime or the limited style of budgeted serial japanese animation.

Guys this is from Superman / Batman Apocalypse!!! WATCH IT!! IT’S AMAZING AND HAS SUPERGIRL IN IT!! Actually, it’s mostly ALL ABOUT HER! IT’S SO GOOD!! Batman is kinda goth in it and funny. hahaha.. But this is one of the best animated DC films I’ve seen. Full of ass kicking women!! The fight scenes are beautifully done. Enjoy!!
